Child support is the payment of funds from one party to another for the benefit of a child. Generally, the parent who does not have custody pays money to the parent who does have custody of the child. The Code of Virginia has a statutory guideline for calculating support. The Guidelines are presumed correct but may be rebutted. There are many different factors taken into consideration. Some of the factors are the earning capacities of each party, the cost of work-related daycare costs, and the cost of medical insurance.
We represent clients who need help calculating child support, need assistance dealing with the Department of Child Support Enforcement, need to modify support, and/or need help enforcing a Court’s Order.
